XI v. Billericay – Essex
League
The Parks first eleven came off
second best to a Billericay side, who seem good favourites to take the division
3 title this season.
Batting first on a good surface, Parks could only muster
161, at least 50 runs short of a target that would have put Billericay under any
kind of pressure.
The main contributors were Bob Curtis and the 'keeping
all-rounder' - Sattish Divakaren. It would be fair to say Billericay's bowlers
were the most accurate set of bowlers the Parks have encountered this
season.
Despite their enthusiam and
effort, Parks could only capture 3 wickets. Alex Greyburn - with his
old-fashioned seamers - was the pick of the bowlers.
Parks look to re-group
and continue their quest for a top 3 finish.

2nd XI v
Billericay – Essex
League
Missing six regulars, Parks 2nd
team could ill afford to loose stand-in captain Waqar
Yusaf early in the game – off to hospital with two teeth
knocked out by a bouncer and a facial cut requiring 9 stitches inside and 7
outside. But a gritty hundred from 16 year old Haris Khan made sure that Parks
reached 190. In sublime batting conditions however, the total was never going to
be enough. Billericay achieved the target with the loss of 3
wickets.

XI v. Billericay – Essex
League
Old Parks won the toss, put
Billericay in to bat and put them under pressure with early wickets. But their
fifth and sixth wicket stands saw them accumulate 266 for 6 wkts in 47
overs with S. Farmer stiking the ball to all parts for 130 no. For the Old
Parks, Jayaprakash (Jabba) Sivarajah stuck to the task with consistent pace and
recorded figures of 12 - 5 - 37 - 2.
In reply the Parks faced four pace
bowlers, the over rate and scoring slowed and a draw was settled for at 172 for
6 wkts in 45 overs. Dave Tack was the mainstay with a hearty 70, accompanied in
the redoubtable John Clark with 34.
The Parks are just 3 points behind Old Southendians who are 2nd in the league,
and have a good chance to finish 2nd given a return of their regular
players.

XI v. Gidea Park & Romford – Essex League
Old Parkonians 4th scored a
stunning win against a strong Gidea Park & Romford side. The Old Parks won
the toss and inserted the opponents who promptly raced to 234-3, with youngster
Elliott Skinner hitting a chanceless, outstanding 123 not out. Nick Thorpe took
2 wickets for the Parks on his return from injury. In reply young Viraj Patel
gave the innings momentum at the start with a quick 25 and then Zimbabwean star
Dave Allbury led the fightback with a powerful 70. He was supported superbly by
Inderpreet Bhatia (52) in a stand of 130 for the second wicket. Jim Martin
(38*) smashed the winning runs as the Old Boys made light of a stiff target to
win by five wickets.

Sunday A v
Maccabi Vale
The Parks Sunday A's played a very
competitive fixture against a strong Maccabi Vale side. The visitors were
restricted to 218 - 3 in their 35 overs, with Jayaprakash Sivarajah bowling
excellently again with little luck for his 1 - 28. In reply Parks struggled to
keep up with the rate, but a defiant half century from youngster Ibtesham
Chowdury (58) and a contribution from Haris Khan (27) made sure the home side
posted a respectable 178 - 8.

Sunday B v
Southall Eagles
This weeks Sunday B fixture saw a
high scoring game with Parks posting an excellent 241 - 5 in 40 overs, Stan
Foley making 69 and Hermes Solomonides 95. However Parks lack of bowling depth
meant the visitors reached their target with the loss of 8 wickets in a tense
finish.

Under
11's
The Parks U11's put up a good
performance against a very strong South
Woodford team. Batting first Parks scored 89 for 5 with Sachin Bawa
and Inquiyad Chowdhury both scoring 25 before retiring. In reply South Woodford reached the winning total in 16 of their 20
overs. It was another match where Parks have introduced a newer recruit to
match conditions. All 21 of the U11's at the club have now had the opportunity
to play in a match.
Under
13's
Parks played a Woodford Wells team
containing a number of district players at the Metropolitan Police Ground. The
Wells batted first and scored an impressive 132 for 2 off of the 20 overs, with
a number of players retiring. Parks could only manage 63 all out against a fine
bowling attack, with Harisan Inpadhas in only his third match top scoring with
15 runs.
Under
15's
Parks A team played another Group
match in the Cox & Kings Competition against Chadwell Heath. Batting first,
3 wickets fell quickly, but Liam Lee the captain steadied the ship and went on
to score 35, including a huge 6 before having to retire. Parks finished on 98
for 9. Parks limited Chadwell Heath to 33 all out in just 10.4 overs, with Liam
Lee taking 2 for 8, Victor Yateesh 2 for 6 and Lakahman Sathananthan 2 for 9.
Parks won by 65 runs.
Old Parks other under 15 players,
mostly from last years U13's, had the opportunity to play a match against
West Essex. Batting first they scored 105 for
3, with Ravi Raval retiring on 28 not out and a fine effort by all players.
West Essex were reduced to 35 for 5 after only 8 overs with Dashi
Theivendrampillai in only his second match taking 3 of the wickets for 14 runs.
With the smell of victory spreading round the team, however, this was not to
be. West Essex still had some strong batsmen to come and only one more wicket
fell before West Essex hit the winning run in
the 18th of their 20 overs. Ravi Raval at one point being on a hat trick, took
2 wickets for 10 runs from 3 overs.
