Depleted 1st team make encouraging start in the first Essex League game
Batting first and in early trouble, Parks 1st team recovered well from 30-3 in a draw against a strong Epping side. Parks’ young overseas player Dan Rootes (72) led the way, batting maturely and put on a recovery with skipper Bob Curtis (51) before a swashbuckling 31 from Garfield Mitchell and an excellent late knock by Alex Greyburn (44 n.o.) helped parks to post 242-6.
Despite the early loss through injury of key bowler Rootes in the field, Parks pulled together to gain 11 points. Epping’s bold chase ended at 223-8, with last season’s 4th teamer Max Mukesh being the pick of the bowlers with 3-30.
